How do I decide between a butt-cut or a die-cut label? The main factor in choosing one of the label cuts is how the label will be applied and used. Another important factor is cost, with die-cut labels being relatively more expensive. A butt-cut label is separated from its neighbours on the label liner by a simple, straight-line cut, like a peel and stick postage stamp. It might be called utilitarian – less costly to produce than a die-cut label, and economical for application on an inexpensive product, or on one where the label will be seen only once, or thrown away. A butt-cut label will naturally have straight sides and square corners. (A die-cut label can have square corners, too, but added to the cost of the required die is the extra expense of “sharpening” the die’s inside corners.)

About Digital Files

There are two basic digital file types for artwork: Raster and Vector.

A vector file is composed of a series of lines and nodes. Vector files are most commonly created in design software such as Adobe Illustrator™ FlexiSign™. When enlarged or reduced, a vector file's quality will not be affected. Common file types include FS, EPS, AI, and PDF.

A raster file is one that is composed of tiny colored squares, called pixels. The resolution set at the time a design file is created will determine the quality of the final printed image. An ideal resolution is 300 dpi. These files are often created in photo-editing software such as Adobe Photoshop™ and Corel Photo Paint™. Artwork that has been scanned is saved in raster format. When raster images are enlarged or reduced too much, the graphic tends to lose its quality. Common file types include JPG, BMP, and TIFF.

Q. What does the word "retroreflective" mean?

     A. "Retroflective" means the ability of a material to return light to its source. In order to appear bright to drivers at night, signs need to be either directly illuminated or have "retroflective" surfaces so that the light striking them from vehicle headlights is reflected back to the driver's eyes.

Q. How is a sign made retroreflective?

     A. To make a sign retroreflective, special material called "reflective sheeting" is used. This sheeting consists of a white or colored material having a smooth, sealed outer surface incorporating miniature glass beads or uniform microprismatic lenses over its entire surface.

Q. How do I begin marketing my business?

A. Set up an appointment with our expert marketing team for your business evaluation survey.

Q. How much will my sign cost?

A. Pricing varies on size, material, colors and design of sign, installations, and other needs. A hard price is given after all aspects of the project is evaluated. A written estimate can be provided.

Q. Can you use my logo that I have?

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE FILES FOR QUALITY OUTPUT.

A raster file is one that is composed of tiny colored squares, called pixels. The resolution set at the time a design file is created will determine the quality of the final printed image. An ideal resolution is 300-600 dpi. Small raster images are not recommended.

Q. Can I have a copy of my design?

A. Yes, a paper copy can be provided at final approval of project. We can archive your file in our hard drive  for future work and provide a digital copy of your design at an additional charge.

Q. Can graffiti be cleaned off?

A. We can laminate your product with a anti graffiti film that will enable graffiti to be removed. Avery SF DOL 6060 Anti-graffiti is a clear polyester over laminating film designed to protect indoor and outdoor markings and decorations against permanent damage from chemicals, solvents or graffiti paints. With Avery's anti-graffiti laminate, graffiti markings can be removed within 72 hours when used in conjunction with spray away anti-graffiti gel (receive a free can so you're handy & ready with the purchase of Avery Anti-Graffiti Laminate). The smooth laminate surface allows the anti-graffiti spray-gel to easily remove markings without harming your investment. There is nothing worse than having graffiti ruin the image of YOUR business!
